New York, May 10, 2021 – New York Road Runners (NYRR) will host races for thousands of runners as the State of New York announced easing up on gathering limits at large-scale outdoor event venues.
NYRR will more than double the runner field size for the Mastercard New York Mini 10K on June 12. The runner field size will increase from 1,200 expected finishers to 3,000 expected finishers. Additionally, the Front Runners LGBT Pride Run on June 26 and the Achilles Hope and Possibility 4M on July 10 will each have 4,250 expected finishers.
The 2021 Mastercard New York Mini 10K, the world’s original women-only road race, will be the first regularly scheduled and largest NYRR race to take place since the COVID-19 pandemic began and will follow comprehensive health and safety guidelines and procedures.
All events taking place in Central Park will operate under NYRR’s Return to Racing guidelines. Health and safety procedures were developed under the guidance of public health officials and medical experts and in partnership with the City of New York and the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation. As part of NYRR’s commitment to health and safety, guidelines will include increased and staggered starts, self-hydration options, hand sanitation stations, and limited race amenities to uphold adherence to social distancing.
