Course:  City streets in downtown Monterey and Pacific Grove, along Monterey Bay coastline

Description:  The scenic PG coastline is showcased to thousands of runners at the Big Sur Half Marathon on Monterey Bay. The gently-rolling, 13.1 mile course winds through historic Monterey, down Cannery Row, along the coastline through Pacific Grove and back. The RUN FORREST RUN 5K and JUST RUN! Just Kids 3K races are held on Saturday morning and a two-day Health & Fitness Expo take place Friday and Saturday.

BIG SUR'S MUD RUN

Course: A road and trail run with four mud pits and various obstacles.

Description: Get "down and dirty" at the Mud Run, a 5+ mile race on paved road, dirt trails and through mud pits and obstacle courses along the way.  Race begins at Freeman Stadium on the Cal State University Monterey Bay campus and heads into the back country of a former military base.  Team competition is welcome!

Big Sur International Marathon

Course:  CA Highway One from Big Sur to Carmel

Description: One of the world’s top destination races, the Big Sur International Marathon has been described as “the best running experience on the planet” and “one of the jewels of American running.”  Set along California’s scenic Highway One, the 26.2 mile race will be celebrating its 26th Presentation on May 1, 2011.  Additional events include distances of 21, 10.6 and 9 miles plus a 5K.  A 3K kids race and two-day Health & Fitness Expo precede the Sunday event.
