After spending two years being known as the man who came agonisingly close to matching the marathon world record, Wilson Kipsang of Kenya broke that record handsomely in Berlin on Sunday morning, clocking 2.03.23, thus taking 15 seconds off compatriot Patrick Makau’s 2.03.38, set in this same race two years ago. In only his second marathon, former world 5000 metres track champion, Eliud Kipchoge finished second in 2.04.05, taking a minute off his debut best; and another Kenyan, Geoffrey Kipsang (no relation) was third in 2.06.26, also a personal best.

Reyes, past winner of the Napa-to-Sonoma, Santa Barbara and Healdsburg Wine County Half Marathons, led the race from start to finish. - WILLAMETTE VALLEY, Ore. – (Sept. 1, 2013) – Sergio Reyes and Zita Bauge won their debut appearances in the 4th Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon on a picturesque day in the Willamette Valley.  The race, presented by Subaru, featured a scenic 13.1-mile race that started at Stoller Family Estate Winery, and finished in downtown Carlton.  Produced by Destination Races of Sonoma, the event was the fourth of six in the Wine Country Half Marathon Series.
