REGISTRATION FOR 2014 ASICS LA MARATHON BEGINS TODAY

Written by

After Last Year’s Sell-Out, Officials Urge Runners to Sign Up Early - LOS ANGELES (October 1, 2013)—Registration for the 2014 ASICS LA Marathon is now underway, giving runners a chance to secure their spot on the starting line for the March 9th race. The 2013 race sold out and organizers once again anticipate strong demand for the race due to the tremendous popularity of the Stadium to the Sea course both nationally and internationally.

After spending two years being known as the man who came agonisingly close to matching the marathon world record, Wilson Kipsang of Kenya broke that record handsomely in Berlin on Sunday morning, clocking 2.03.23, thus taking 15 seconds off compatriot Patrick Makau’s 2.03.38, set in this same race two years ago. In only his second marathon, former world 5000 metres track champion, Eliud Kipchoge finished second in 2.04.05, taking a minute off his debut best; and another Kenyan, Geoffrey Kipsang (no relation) was third in 2.06.26, also a personal best.
