Event leads off the Bay Area Based “Run the Bay Challenge” Series - The San Jose 408k “Race to the Row” will host its 3rd annual event benefiting the Pat Tillman Foundation.  The 2014 event expects to attract over 5,000 runners to tackle the 8k distance in celebration of the 408 area code.  Starting at the SAP Center, runners cruise on this point-to-point course down the Alameda, through the Rose Garden and into the Santana Row finish festival. Represent Running expects the largest field in the event’s history, numerous new partners, and some added entertainment elements to this already popular San Jose event.

February 7, 2014 (Oakland, CA) -- Corrigan Sports Enterprises (CSE) announced today Bank of the West will serve as the official bank of the Oakland Running Festival (ORF) and title sponsor for the event’s 5K distance for three years. The fifth annual Oakland Running Festival takes place on March 23rd and features four other races: marathon, half marathon, four-person team relay, and a kids’ fun run.  The event has sold out each of the first four years.

(January 19, 2014) — With the help of a little pixie dust, Melissa Hernandez won her first-ever half marathon Sunday, flying away from the field to win the Tinker Bell Half Marathon at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif.

San Jose, Calif. — November 19, 2013 — After an anticipated 28,000 recreational runners burn off pre-holiday-dinner calories at the Applied Materials “Silicon Valley Turkey Trot” on Thanksgiving Day in downtown San Jose, more than 60 elite runners will compete in one of the fastest and most competitive 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) races in the world. Elite athletes representing five countries will toe the starting line including a half dozen current and former Olympians, 10 women with 5K personal bests under 15:30 (5-minutes per mile pace), and nine men with personal bests under 13:45 (4:26 per mile pace).

5K Participants will get to “Chase The Pig” for Awards and BBQ - SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA – Mo’s Smokehouse BBQ, one of the most popular and long-standing restaurants in San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach and Chico, CA, has signed on as the Presenting Sponsor of the SLO Marathon 5K race. The new “Chase the Pig 5K” presented by Mo’s Smokehouse BBQ will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2014 during the San Luis Obispo Marathon + Half Marathon weekend. Race organizers expect more than 1000 participants for the 2014 race.

Santa Rosa native Sara Bei Hall breaks course record in half-marathon debut - HEALDSBURG, Calif. - (October 26, 2013) – Michael Nicks of Portland, Ore. and Sara Bei Hall (right) of Redding, Calif. won the 6th  Healdsburg Wine Country Half Marathon on Saturday, October 26. Produced by Destination Races of Sonoma, (www.destinationraces.com/runhb), the sold-out wine harvest and Halloween themed race hosted 2,500 runners from 47 states and 8 foreign countries. The 13.1-mile race ran through the beautiful Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys on a picture perfect day.
