Gala this year in Chapiteau
MONTE CARLO (MON): New place for the prestigious annual World Athletics Gala. On Friday November 21 it will be staged in the Le Chapiteau de l'Espace Fontvieille. The highlight of the evening will of course be the announcement of the 2014 male and female World Athletes of the Year, with the winners being presented with their trophies live on stage. The Gala, which will be attended by a glittering array of present and former champions, will also give the global athletics family the opportunity to honour other outstanding achievements within the sport via further awards including the latest induction into the IAAF Hall of Fame. In the week leading up to the Gala, the IAAF Council will meet for its autumn session during which among many important discussions and decisions, the host city of the 2019 IAAF World Championships will be decided. Rainy weather and new, tougher course don't deter 2,400 runners, wine and costumes abound - HEALDSBURG, Calif. (Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014)- Sergio Reyes of Palmdale, Calif. and repeat winner Sara Hall of Flagstaff, Ariz. won the 7th edition Healdsburg Wine Country Half Marathon on Saturday, October 25. Sponsored by Newton Running and produced by Destination Races of Sonoma, the wine harvest and Halloween themed race hosted 2,400 runners from 40 states and 6 foreign countries. This late October run passed 25 wineries - two with wine stops - and featured a costume contest for runners at the post-race Wine & Music Festival. A much-needed fall rainstorm sporadically showered the runners on the new, tougher course, which didn’t seem to negatively effect the winners.

J. Williams thinks 240
EUGENE (USA): 2011 World high jump champion Jesse Williams was encouraged by the 2014 season, one in which he started with only being able to jump 190 in training and finished with a SB of 229, report portlandtrack.com. A tear of his anterior tibiofibular ligament in May 2013 put him out of action for quite some time, so the main goal for 2014 was to get back to being 100% healthy. Now that he has achieved this, he wants to join the 240 club, something that would also being along the American record, which currently stands at 240. To do this he wants to drop 10 pounds from his current weight of 183 pounds. His main goal for 2015 is to jump a PB (currently 237) or take attempts at a PB at the World Championships.
Kyriakopoulou hopes for a medal in Praha
ATHENS (GRE): Greek pole vault star Nicoleta Kyriakopoulou will compete indoors aiming for a medal at the European Indoor Championships in Prague, as said in the website www.sportsfeed.gr. "The problems i had this year were not easy so I started my preparation with a lot of desire". The bronze medalist from European championships in 2012 had an accident at World indoors in Sopot when her pole broke and she injured herself. After that she lost part of her training for outdoor season. Now she also wants to compete at international meetings every week, but has not finalized the program with her manager John Regis.
