• Started in 1979, the Kaiser Permanente Napa Valley Marathon (NVM) is one of the most firmly established and popular marathons in the U.S. Its relatively fast and beautiful course through the world-renowned Napa Valley wine growing region has remained exactly the same since its inaugural running.
• Every Napa Valley Marathon participant assists important local causes. All proceeds from the Napa Valley Marathon (a non-profit organization) are donated to local charities and schools in the Napa Valley region. In addition, an independent economic impact analysis commissioned by the marathon in 2012 estimated that the local economic impact of NVM is approximately $3 million annually in direct spending.
• For the second time Forbes Magazine calls NVM one of the "Top 10 Marathons Worth Traveling For."
• American Express' Departures magazine diclares NVM as #7 in their "ten travel-worthy races that make for truly memorable journeys on the run."
• Runner's World names NVM as one of 10 races that "will ensure your first 26.2 is special—and worth repeating."
• The 2014 edition of NVM has, once again, been selected by the Road Runners Club of America as its National Marathon Championship.
