Lavillenie Opens Season with 580, Next Stop Reno

AUBIERE (FRA, Jan 10): Olympic winner and World record holder Renaud Lavillenie opened his indoor season (9 competitions in total in plan) at Capitale Perche meet with first attempt clearances at 560, 570 and 580. 
Then he missed 594 but was satisfied with his technique. Next meet on Friday in Reno, USA the Pole Vault Summit. It was his first indoor competition since the world record in Donetsk last February. At the meet another sensation as Marion Fiack in second attempt improved the French record to 471 and tried at 480. Former mark of Vanessa Boslak was 470 from World Indoor Championships 2012 in Istanbul. Second Portugal´s Maria-Leonore Ribeiro Tavares 431 and third Chloe Henry also 431, new Belgian indoor record. In the men competition second Jerome Clavier and third Valentin Lavillenie achieved 560, fourth Briton Luke Cutts 550. European medalist Kevin Menaldo tied for 8th with Damiel Dossevi at 540.
