The fifth edition Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon started at Stoller Family Estate in Dayton, Oregon at 7am, with a course weaving 13.1 miles past vineyards, farms, and wineries before finishing at Ken Wright Cellars in Carlton, Oregon. The sold-out field of runners celebrated their achievements at the popular post-race Wine + Music Festival, where runners sampled local food and wine from over twenty wineries.

Each runner received a Riedel wine glass in addition to receiving a finisher’s medal (recently noted by Runner’s World as one of the best race medals) and technical shirt while listening to Lil’ Queenie band.  The top 3 finishers in each age category also received a bottle of wine from one of the noted wineries on course.

Dan Kremske celebrated his victory alongside his teammate from Team Run Eugene, Craig Leon.  Dan said he couldn’t imagine being anywhere else this Labor Day weekend. “It is my first wine country half marathon, and it was awesome to celebrate both running and wine in a beautiful Oregon location,” said Kremske. “As I gear up for the Chicago Marathon, it was a great addition to my training program in a fun atmosphere full of great people.”

This was Eva Vail’s third Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon and her first win. She placed second and third the previous two years. “Third time is a charm, and I love the atmosphere of this race. It is an amazing race. I will definitely be back again.”

”What a rewarding and fun day it was for everyone involved in this event,” said Matt Dockstader, Founder and Race Director of Destination Races. “It rewarding to see Dan Kremske break the course record. The entire event is truly a team effort that starts here in our community and expands to all our partners and our participants from all over the world.”
