Zappos 1/2 of the Half Sold Out

Second edition event to take place prior to start of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon; Nighttime running festival returns to the Las Vegas Strip on November 14-16, 2014; Marathon & ½ marathon registration tracking on pace to reach capacity soon - LAS VEGAS  – It’s ½ of the half-marathon fun and the shorter run has proven to be even more popular in its second year, as the 2014 ½ of the Half has reached capacity with 3,000 entrants.  The 6.5-mile event takes place on the Las Vegas Strip in conjunction with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas weekend on November 14-16, 2014.

“We're very excited that the ½ of the Half has grown in popularity. This year, over 1,000 entries were added so we could welcome more walkers and runners to the newly revitalized area of Downtown Las Vegas,” said Tony Hsieh, CEO of “We're even more thrilled to be sponsoring the 1/2-of-the-Half finish line party at the recently opened Downtown Container Park!”

The ‘1/2 of a Half begins at the marathon start line, runs down the Las Vegas Strip with a finish line in downtown Las Vegas. The event features all the excitement and fanfare of race day, beginning at 3:30pm and concludes with a finish line festival at Container Park. The Container Park party will feature drink and food specials from vendors and live music at the built-in concert venue.

“Whether it’s 26.2 miles or 6.5 miles, taking over the Las Vegas Strip as a runner is an experience unlike any other,” said Kevin LaRue, Event Manager of Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas. “We’re delighted to partner with Zappos again this year to offer runners a shorter distance event that really showcases the rejuvenated culture, community and economy of Downtown Las Vegas.”

For the first time in Las Vegas marathon history, last year’s event featured a new November date that proved to be wildly successful in providing a better chance at warmer weather. The unique course and nighttime start attracts thousands of participants from around the world to experience the one of a kind event with live bands at every mile, a Run-Thru Wedding for couples to elope on the go, the infamous group of Running Elvi and pre- and post-event parties throughout the weekend at Vegas’ top nightlife venues.

New in 2014 runners have the option of purchasing aVIP package to add to the ultimate Las Vegas experience.  The new VIP packages, available at, provide three options for runners to gain exclusive marathon access throughout the weekend.

Marathon weekend begins with a free two-day Health & Fitness Expo where all participants go to pick up their race number, gear bag and t-shirt. The ultimate running resource will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center on Friday, November 14 and Saturday, November 15. It will feature more than 100 running and fitness retailers, exhibits and a full series of interactive clinics.
