December 1, 2008 from Tracy Lott / Running USA wire (ATLANTA GA) Michael Green , 32, of Troy, AL, was the first runner to cross the finish line of 2008's The Weather Channel Atlanta Half Marathon with an official gun time of 1:07:23 seconds on Thursday. Green and runner-up Andrew Fuller of Rome GA battled through the 11th mile of the race before Green pulled ahead to victory.

The 30-year-old Kenyan broke the course record, finishing 2:07:53 on the impressive Piazza Castello in the centre of the city. Elias Chelimo and Leonard Mucheru took second and third with 2:08:39 and 2:10:05.
